A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, W. Adam Izell is in his ninth year of practicing law. His focus of practice is defending civil lawsuits. Primarily, Mr. Izell defends construction negligence lawsuits, fire loss claims, premises liability and civil rights lawsuits. He also defends car accident cases and in appropriate circumstances pursues personal injury and commercial actions for plaintiffs. He also handles probate cases and criminal defense work. He has been a member of the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panel for the Eastern District of Tennessee for several years representing indigent defendants in a variety of cases.
Mr. Izell has represented insureds for Auto-Owners Insurance Company, Owners insurance Company, Central Insurance Company, Nautilus Insurance Company, Acuity Insurance Company, the Police Benevolent Association, the Fraternal Order of Police, the City of Chattanooga and many private business owners and individuals. He has represented municipalities such as Wichita County, Texas, in federal court actions in Chattanooga. Mr. Izell practices in all Tennessee state trial and appellate Courts statewide, and the U.S. District Courts and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Adam Izell graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2005 magna cum laude, and from the University of Tennessee, College of Law in 2009.
Mr. Izell was awarded the W.H.H. Southern Memorial Law Scholarship, and the Class of 1993 Scholarship. He was recognized for outstanding pro bono service in law school, and worked as a Graduate research Assistant for Professor Carol Mutter. He also studied with the Downing College International Law Study Abroad Program in Cambridge, England.
While in law school he practiced law in the Juvenile Court, Sessions Court, and Criminal Court of Knox County, Tennessee, though the Tennessee College of Law Advocacy Clinic. He graduated from law school with a concentration in Advocacy and Dispute Resolution. He began his practice in Chattanooga immediately after taking the bar exam and has continued ever since. He is an active member of the Brock-Cooper American Inn of Court as well as the Tennessee and Chattanooga Bar Associations.
